Performance analysis in co-combustion sewage sludge/RSU

A.S.A. Azienda Servizi Ambientali is an Italian public company whose core business focuses on urban water complete systems both in Livorno and in neighbouring municipalities. A.S.A. primary area includes also sludge sewage digesters and final disposal of residue slurries.

According to a Public Authority request and following a W.T.E.Srl preliminary study, A.S.A asked W.T.E.Srl to analyse in details the energetic performance of the incineration plant in case of co-combustion of RDF and sludge sewage. The aim was to verify the compliance with law and rules in force, focusing on energy recovery.

By means of several mathematical simulations W.T.E. has evaluated, on yearly basis, the energy deliverable to the grid, proving that the efficiency was in compliance with Italian law prescriptions. All the fundamental  parameters in combustion, gas cleaning system and energy recovery, were also evaluated verifying that all of them were within the allowed ranges.
